Fire hydrants provide additional safety along River Springs Drive
Nine fire hydrants installed along River Springs Drive will provide added safety benefits to the 43 residents of the street.
The hydrants were installed by the developers of the new River Springs Development and will service those 36 homes as well.
Hydrants allow the West St. Paul Fire Department, in the event of a fire, to connect to water from the hydrant, rather than having to drive back to the fire station to refill the pumper, which saves valuable time when battling a fire.
Existing homeowners should inform their insurance companies of the hydrants and should see a reduction in their policy costs.
The hydrants became operational this week.
