Summer Maintenance Positions
Job Type: Temporary Full Time 
Duration: April 28, 2025 - August 29, 2025 (18-week duration)
June 9, 2025 - August 29, 2025 (12-week duration)
June 23, 2025 - August 29, 2025 (10-week duration)
Salary: $17.46
Closing Date: Open until filled

Duties:
  • Assist in the summer weed / roadside mowing maintenance program
  • Assist in the parks and recreation maintenance programs
  • Maintain mobile and stationary equipment
Qualifications:
  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s License
  • Be able to relate with the general public and other employees
  • Must be physically fit to complete ongoing manual labour duties
  • Working in the presence of pollen and dust
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Youth aged 16 to 29 years
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Qualifications:
  • Student enrolled in High school or Post-Secondary Education.
  • Experience/skills specific to Children’s Recreation (i.e. experience with arts/crafts, sports/games, group recreation, special activities, etc.).
  • Ability to work on their own with minimal supervision.
  • Have experience working with and dealing with children of all ages.
  • Be flexible in terms of the hours available to cover required shifts.
  • Hold current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certifications (or willing to obtain).
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Youth aged 15 and 30 years of age and a certificate of completion for the Young Worker Readiness Certificate course if 15 years of age
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada

   EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Equipment Operator II

Job Type: Full-Time Temporary/Indefinite Term (40 hrs per week)
Start Date: To be determined
Salary: As per Collective Agreement between the RM of West St. Paul and IUOE Local 987

Closing Date: Open until filled

Under the direction of the Public Works Foreman, an Equipment Operator II operates both heavy and light equipment to perform and assist in repairs and maintenance of municipal infrastructure with a focus on, but not limited to, roads, sidewalks, pathways, parks, and signage.  This position runs equipment such as graders, front-end loaders, sanding/plow trucks, and snow blowers. An Equipment Operator II may also oversee or supervise small projects or tasks with a limited scope.

This position falls within the Collective Bargaining Unit of Local 987 and is subject to all terms and conditions of the collective agreement or subsequent amending Agreements.

This is a temporary position to cover an employee leave of absence, with an anticipated duration of six (6) months. The exact duration may vary based on the needs of the organization.

Bartender
Casual Position

Job Type: Casual – approximately 14 hours per week
Salary: $16.31 per hour

Duties:
Reporting to the Supervisor the incumbent will be responsible for performing duties related to bartending and/or security for social events being held at the Access Centre generally on Friday and Saturday evenings from approximately 7:00pm to 2:00am but may include other evenings as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade XII education and a minimum two years job related experience.
  • Must be the age of majority
  • Valid Province of Manitoba driver’s class (5) license
  • Good interpersonal skills to deal with the public
  • Ability to understand and apply written and oral instruction
  • Physically fit and mentally able to perform the required tasks
  • Professional appearance and attitude 
  • Customer service skills are required 
  • Cash handling experience 
  • Ability to multi-task 
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations 
  • Product knowledge 
  • Safe food handling may be required where applicable 
  • Serving It Right is an asset (or willing to acquire within 2 months of employment)
  • Courses in Bartending are an asset
  • National Occupational Certification as a Bartender is an asset
  • First aid is an asset

Security Personnel
Casual Position

Job Type: Casual – approximately 14 hours per week
Salary: $18.42 per hour

Duties:
Reporting to the Supervisor the incumbent will be responsible for providing protection, safety and security for guests, employees and the physical property of the facility, for social events being held at the Access Centre generally on Friday and Saturday evenings from approximately 7:00pm to 2:00am but may include other evenings as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade XII education and a minimum two years job related experience.
  • Valid Province of Manitoba driver’s class (5) license
  • Good interpersonal skills to deal with the public.
  • Ability to understand and apply written and oral instruction.
  • Physically fit and mentally able to perform the required tasks
  • Basic Security Training (BST) certification is required in this position 
  • Advanced Security Training (AST) is considered an asset 
  • 3 – 5 years previous experience in security field is considered an asset 
  • Knowledge of Criminal Code and municipal by-laws; Valid Level 2 or 3 Occupational First Aid Certificate 
  • Able to demonstrate excellent Interpersonal skills, Conflict resolution skills and Observational skills 
  • Possesses sound decision-making abilities; Research and investigative skills 
  • Physically capable to perform the tasks of the position 
  • Knowledge of Access Centre policies and procedures
