Please Note: We can issue refunds or credits for a future class for cancellations made at least 7 days before a class is scheduled, otherwise your registration will be non-refundable as cookies, material and tools/icing etc will be prepared for you. You can opt to transfer your spot to another person if you are unable to make it. You are also welcome to pick up your cookie kit if you are unable to make the class at the last minute.
Refunds will be subject to a $15 administration fee; credits will be the full amount.

Babysitting Course
Baby Sitting Course
Help your child build valuable skills for a lifetime.
As a trained babysitter, your child will learn:
- Basic skills to care for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children
- How to care for himself/herself and siblings when home alone
- How to create a safe environment, and deal with phone calls and unexpected visitors
- How to react confidently in case of an emergency, such as choking, bleeding, poisoning, or burns
- How to cope with common problems, such as tantrums and crying
- Games and activities to keep kids of all ages entertained
- How to manage a babysitting business, including creating a resumé and a business card, and asking the right questions before accepting a babysitting job
Course Features:
- Developed for youth 11 to 15 years of age
- Can be completed in one day or in sections over several days/weeks
- Focuses on five main areas: child caregiving, first aid, injury prevention, leadership, and business skills
- Youth learn through interactive, fun activities, and problem-solving scenarios and practice
- Participants receive the Canadian Red Cross Babysitter’s Manual, which includes key information on caring for kids of different ages, as well as an emergency contact form, sample resumés, business cards, glossary, and more
- Participants receive a wallet card that confirms they have completed the course

Stay Safe Course
Stay Safe Course
For youth 9 to 11 years of age. (Must be 9 years of age or have completed grade 3)
Course Outline
Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. The Stay Safe! program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations.
Course Content
- Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
- Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own
- How to stay safe at home and within the community
- How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)
- First Aid Content:
- Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/alone), feeling unwell, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns)
