The RM of West St. Paul takes pride in keeping our community clean. The Municipality uses automated carts for its garbage and recycling collection program for residential customers and offers bi-weekly yard waste collection beginning the week of May 1st and ending the week of October 31st. Bi-weekly yard waste collection will alternate with homes on the west side of Main Street collected one week and the homes on the east side of Main Street collected the following week.
Please ensure that you have your garbage and recycling carts and yard waste are spaced properly at the curb by 7:00am on your pick up date.
How to place your carts for collection:
- Place the cart with the back wheels against the curb or edge of the road
- Point the cart with the lid opening towards the center of the road or lane.
- Space them one arm's length clearance (one meter or 39 inches) on all sides of the cart. This is to allow enough room for the collection truck to grab your cart.
- Look up—avoid placing your cart under hydro or telephone wires, basketball hoops, awnings and tree limbs
Yard Waste
Yard waste must be placed in an eligible container such as a brown paper bag, cardboard box or other reusable container in good condition, without a lid. Reusable containers without a lid will be emptied however, the Contractor nor the Municipality will be held liable for any damages or loss of container. Yard waste containers should not exceed 22kg (50lbs).
Tied bundles of branches may be placed beside the containers or yard waste bags if the bundle is less than 22kgs (50lbs) and branches are less than one meter (39 inches) long 10cm (four inches) in diameter.
Please ensure your yard waste is at the curb by 7:00am
on your collection day for pickup.
Yard waste placed in plastic bags or in other
non-compliant containers (such as the regular garbage and recycling
carts) will not be collected.
Because yard waste is diverted from the landfill and used in compost, yard waste must be placed in an approved container – a brown paper bag, cardboard box or a reusable container that is in good condition and does not have a lid. Bags and cardboard boxes will be taken away by the contractor and reusable bins will be emptied, however neither the contractor nor the municipality are liable for any damage or the loss of containers. Yard waste containers cannot exceed 22 kg (50lbs).
Any reusable container in good condition (plastic tubs, old blue boxes, metal or plastic garbage cans) can be used for yard waste. Lids are not allowed so that the contractor can see from a distance that it is in fact yard waste.
Bundles of branches can be placed beside the yard waste but must be tied, be less than 22 kg (50lbs), less than one meter (39 inches) in length and 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter.
