Employment Opportunity - Summer Student Positions

The Rural Municipality of West St. Paul is recruiting Summer Student positions to work in various capacities. 

Summer Maintenance Positions
Job Type:  Temporary Full Time 
Duration:  June 8, 2020-August 31, 2020 (12 week duration)
Salary:      $15.43
Closing Date:  March 26, 2020

Duties:
-Assist in the summer weed / roadside mowing maintenance program
-Assist in the parks and recreation maintenance programs
-Maintain mobile and stationary equipment

Qualifications:
-Students or unemployed youth aged 15 to 29
-Be legally entitled to work in Canada
-Finished their studies for the year (if in high school)
-Valid Manitoba Drivers License
-Be able to relate with the general public and other employees
-Must be physically fit to complete ongoing manual labour duties
-Working in the presence of pollen and dust
-Ability to work under minimal supervision

Summer Camp Counsellors
Job Type:  Temporary Full Time 
Duration:  June 15, 2020-September 4, 2020 (12 week duration)
                  June 29, 2020-September 4, 2020 (10 week duration)
Salary:  $11.65 to $13.89
Closing Date:  March 26, 2020 

Duties:
The Summer Camp Counsellor - working under the supervision and direction of the Recreation Director - will provide assistance regarding the planning, organizing, implementation and supervision of all aspects of the Sunova Summer Camp Program.  

The successful applicant will perform the following duties:
-Caring for, supervising and engaging children enrolled in the program
-Assisting with program registration, marketing, record keeping and reporting before and during the program
-Assisting with the creation, planning, organization and implementation of the day-to-day outline for the program
-Assisting in program evaluation and creating a supply inventory at the end of the program
-Enforcing the rules and providing the appropriate kind and amount of discipline to the children enrolled in the program
-Assisting with the supervision of special events outside of regular activities, as assigned
-To maintain a safe, clean environment for the children enrolled in the program 
-To know, observe, implement and respect all camp policies
-To respects the rights of confidentiality and privacy in all matters affecting or involving the program and/or service
-To perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the job description

Qualifications:
-Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
-Be legally entitled to work in Canada
-Finished their studies for the year (if in high school)
-Possess experience/skills specific to Children’s Recreation (i.e. experience with arts/crafts, sports/games, group recreation, special activities, etc.)
-Have experience working with and dealing with children of all ages
-Be flexible in terms of the hours available to cover required shifts
-Hold current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certifications (or willing to obtain)
-Hold a clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
