RCMP Service for West St. Paul has a new name
Effective today, Aug. 5, 2020, the East St. Paul RCMP detachment will be renamed Red River North RCMP.
"The name change comes after several months of consultation with mayors in the local communities,” said Superintendent Joanne Keeping, officer in charge of Manitoba RCMP East District. "We believe the new name better reflects the communities in this geographical area.”
The boundary area, which includes the communities of West St. Paul, East St. Paul, and south St. Clements will not change.
West St. Paul Mayor Cheryl Christian said the name change is a more accurate representation of the detachment’s coverage area.
"Red River North defines the area the RCMP cover and it makes it more identifiable to the people who live in all three municipalities,” Christian said.
"The Detachment members have always done a great job protecting our communities and I know that will not change. Our residents can expect the same level of service they’ve always enjoyed.
The RCMP Detachment Office remains located in East St. Paul at 3021 Birds Hill Road and phone numbers to contact the RCMP remain the same as well.
