Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New Kindergarten to Grade 8 School in West St. Paul

A groundbreaking ceremony was held today, March 10, 2026, to mark the beginning of construction on a new kindergarten to Grade 8 school in the Meadowlands development in the RM of West St. Paul.

École Meadowlands School is designed as an 82,000+ sq. ft. dual-track French immersion facility that will initially accommodate 675 students with the ability to support up to 800 students as enrolment grows. The facility will include modern classroom spaces, a gymnasium, a multipurpose room, and specialized learning areas such as human ecology and applied technology.

A child-care facility will also be included as part of the project, providing space for up to 134 children, including infant, preschool, and school-age care.

Community members and representatives from the Province of Manitoba, Seven Oaks School Division, and the RM of West St. Paul were among those in attendance at the ceremony to celebrate this milestone for the growing community.

The addition of École Meadowlands School will help support the continued growth of West St. Paul and provide families with access to modern learning spaces close to home.

The school is expected to welcome students as early as September 2027.
