Are you an experienced equipment operator with a strong commitment to public service and municipal operations? The RM of West St. Paul is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator II to support the maintenance and repair of municipal infrastructure and provide essential public works services to our growing community.
What You’ll Do
As an Equipment Operator II, you will operate and maintain a variety of heavy and light equipment while supporting the delivery of municipal public works services throughout the RM. Key responsibilities include:
- Operate graders, front-end loaders, sanding/plow trucks, and snow blowers.
- Perform road maintenance, including pothole patching, grading, gravel repair, and dust control.
- Conduct snow plowing and sanding of roads, pathways, and parking lots.
- Install and maintain traffic and information signage in accordance with applicable standards.
- Support waste and recycling programs, including roll-out bin delivery and maintenance.
- Respond to emergency callouts and assist with infrastructure maintenance projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment, including motor graders.
- Valid Manitoba Class 3 Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement (Class 1 considered an asset).
- Experience in municipal public works, construction, or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of WHMIS requirements and safe equipment operation practices.
- Physically capable of performing manual labour and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
