Can a Community Safety Officer give me a ticket?

Yes. Community Safety Officers are authorized to conduct traffic enforcement under specific provisions of The Highway Traffic Act. They may use approved speed-measuring equipment, including LIDAR, and issue tickets for speeding and other traffic offences within their authority. CSOs are also able to issue municipal penalties for by-law infractions.
