Name the Dog Park Contest Rules
The RM of West St. Paul is inviting residents to help name our new off-leash dog park on Grassmere Road.
Eligibility
- The contest is open to residents of the RM of West St. Paul of all ages.
- Participants must be residents of the RM of West St. Paul at the time of entry.
- Each participant may submit one name.
- Employees of the RM of West St. Paul are not eligible to participate.
How to Enter
Residents can submit their proposed name through the official online contest form from October 8 to October 18, 2026.
Each submission must include:
- A proposed name for the dog park
- A brief explanation of why the name was chosen
- The participant's name and contact information so they can be contacted if they are selected as the winner
Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. on October 18, 2026.
Selecting the Finalists
Following the submission period, eligible submissions will be reviewed by RM of West St. Paul staff.
Three finalist names will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to West St. Paul and the local community
- Connection to the dog park, surrounding area or local landscape
- Originality and creativity
- Appropriateness for residents of all ages
- Ease of use and recognition as a park name
The RM of West St. Paul reserves the right to disqualify any submission that does not meet the contest criteria or these rules.
Public Voting
The three finalist names will be presented to the public for an online vote.
Voting will take place from October 20 to October 28, 2026.
Each person may submit one vote.
The finalist receiving the most votes will be selected as the winning name of the dog park.
In the event of a tie, the RM of West St. Paul will determine the winning name.
Name Requirements
Submitted names must:
- Be original and appropriate
- Be relevant to West St. Paul, the dog park or the surrounding area
- Not contain offensive, discriminatory, vulgar or inappropriate language
- Not promote or endorse a political party, political candidate, commercial business, product or service
- Not be the name of a living individual without their permission
- Not duplicate or closely resemble the name of an existing municipal facility, park or public space
- Not infringe on any trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights
- Not contain personal information about another individual
- Not be submitted for the purpose of promoting a business, organization or individual
The RM of West St. Paul reserves the right to reject any submission that does not meet these requirements.
Winning Name and Prize
The winning name will become the official name of the RM of West St. Paul dog park.
The winner will receive a West St. Paul prize pack.
If the winning name was submitted by more than one participant, a random draw will be conducted among the participants who submitted the winning name to determine the prize winner.
The winner will be contacted using the information provided on the contest entry form. The winning name and the winner's name may be shared through the RM of West St. Paul's website, social media channels, newsletter and other communications.
Use of Submissions
By submitting a name, participants confirm that their submission is their own original work and does not infringe on the rights of another person or organization.
By entering the contest, participants grant the RM of West St. Paul permission to use, reproduce, publish and display their submitted name and explanation for purposes related to the contest and promotion of the dog park, without additional compensation.
The RM of West St. Paul is not required to use any submitted name and retains final authority over the official name of the dog park.
