Position Objectives:

Are you a storyteller at heart with a knack for digital engagement? Do you love crafting messages that connect communities? Join the RM of West St. Paul as our Communications Officer and help us share the stories that matter!

Duties and Responsibilities:

As our Communications Officer, you’ll plan, develop, and deliver communication strategies that keep our residents informed and engaged. From managing social media and digital content to coordinating media relations and community events, you’ll be the voice of West St. Paul!

• Develop and implement communication plans for municipal projects and events

• Manage media relations and draft press releases, newsletters, and public notices

• Oversee website updates and social media campaigns

• Support community engagement initiatives and municipal events

• Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all platforms

• Serve as an advisor to Council and Staff on communication strategies and best practices

Minimum Requirements:

Desirable Training and Experience:

• Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field

• 3–5 years of experience in communications or media relations (municipal experience an asset)

• Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills

• Experience managing websites, social media, and digital tools

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
