Watch for new reduced speed school zone coming soon
Motorists are advised that a new reduced speed school zone is being added and will be in effect soon, bringing the number of reduced school speed zones in the RM to four. Reduced speed zones for Dasmesh School and The King’s School will require motorists to slow to 30 km/h between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday from Sept. 1 to June 30. The locations are:
· Holmes Road – Dasmesh School
· Kapelus Drive – The King’s School
· Middlechurch Gate, from Kapelus Drive to Wuerch Crescent *NEW*
The reduced speed zone on Hwy. 9 (Main Street) in front of West St. Paul School requires motorists to slow to 50 km/h between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday from Sept. 1 to June 30.
The Highway Traffic Act allows for municipalities to enact By-Laws to establish reduced speed school zones where deemed necessary.
Kapelus Drive speed reduction
The speed limit on Kapelus Drive, between McPhillips and Main streets, is also being reduced. The previous speed limit was 70 km/h, and will be reduced to 50 km/h, with the exception of the school zone in front of The King’s School, where the speed is 30 km/h during the time frame noted above.
Watch for new speed signs to be posted shortly.
