Are you highly organized, detail‑oriented, and passionate about financial stewardship in the public sector? Join the RM of West St. Paul’s Finance Department as our next Controller and play a key role in supporting strong financial management, compliance, and accountability across the municipality.

What You’ll Do

As the Controller, you will support strong financial operations and help ensure compliance, accuracy, and accountability across the RM. Key responsibilities include:

• Oversee daily accounting activities, including payables, receivables, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, month end and year end closing tasks.
• Produce accurate financial statements and management reports in accordance with PSAS.
• Support the annual audit and budget processes, including variance analysis and forecasting.
• Strengthen internal controls, ensure compliance with The Municipal Act, and support financial system improvements.

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA designation or active pursuit preferred.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a municipal or public‑sector environment.
• Strong knowledge of PSAS, municipal accounting standards, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation.
• Proficiency with municipal accounting software (e.g., Munisoft), Microsoft Excel, and modern financial systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with proven accuracy, integrity, and discretion in handling financial information.
