Property Tax Information
Paying On-Line

The R.M. of West St. Paul allows for ratepayers to pay their taxes on-line. To do this, you must access your existing on-line bill payment system through your financial institution's website and add the R.M. of West St. Paul as a Payee. You will then use your Roll Number, without the decimal, as the account number. The account number must be a total of 6 to 9 digits.
 
For example:
If you have a Roll # with 4 digits such as 1234 - you would enter 001234 or 000001234 If you have a Roll # with 5 digits such as 12345 - you would enter 012345 or 000012345 If you have a Roll # with 6 digits such as 123456 - you would enter 123456 or 000123456 You may then pay your annual property taxes as you would any other bill.

NOTE: Please ensure you allow ample time for your online payment to reach the R.M. of West St. Paul’s financial institution. A good guideline to follow is 4 to 5 business days for processing by your financial institution and the R.M. of West St Paul’s financial institution.
 
 
Property Tax Payment Options
 
The R.M. of West St Paul accepts the following types of payments for paying property taxes:
  1. AT THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE – 3550 Main Street, West St Paul, MB
  2. BY MAIL - R.M. of West St. Paul, 3550 Main Street, West St Paul, MB R4A 5A3
  3. ON-LINE - Set up a payment option for property taxes with your financial institution (as described above), using your Roll Number as your account number.
  4. TAX INSTALLMENT PAYMENT PROGRAM (TIPP) - This option allows ratepayers to have automatic monthly withdrawals from their bank accounts. For more information on enrollment please click here
  5. INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS - Payments can be made either by coming into the Municipal Office, by mailing in postdated cheques or thru online banking and payments will be credited to the tax account.
Please make cheques payable to R.M. of West St. Paul and be sure to write the Roll # on the cheque or present the tax statement when making your payment so as to ensure that payment is applied to the correct property. Interac, cheque or cash are accepted. PLEASE NOTE THAT MANY DEBIT CARDS HAVE DAILY LIMITS ON THEM SO VERIFY WITH YOUR BANK BEFORE COMING TO THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE TO MAKE PAYMENT.
CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
 
 
Penalty
 
Taxes are due by September 29,2017. Penalty on arrears is calculated at 1.25% per month commencing on October 1, 2017. Penalties are calculated and added on the first day of each month that the taxes remain unpaid. NOTE: The effective date for payments made to the R.M. of West St. Paul will be the actual day of receipt by the R.M. of West St. Paul. To avoid late fees, mail in a postdated cheque and allow ample time for the payment to reach the Municipal Office. For your convenience, there is a mailbox located at the entrance of the Municipal Office for those who are unable to attend during office hours.
 
 
Tax Statements
 
The property owner's name and address which appears on the property tax statement is in accordance with the latest information and advice which has been made available to the Municipal Office. If, however, an ownership change has since occurred, please forward the property tax statement to the current owner or return it immediately to the Municipal Office. It is most important that the Municipal Office be advised promptly of any change of ownership or mailing address in order to ensure that the tax statement is properly forwarded. It should be noted for future reference that failure to receive a bill does not excuse an owner from responsibility for payment of taxes nor relieve that owner from liability for any late penalty payment.
 
 
Education Property Tax Credit
 
For 2017 the Education Property Tax Credit is up to $700.00. This credit applies to your principal residence only. You may request a rebate if, as of January 1, 2017, you are the registered owner of a single-dwelling unit which is your principal residence, on which you paid property taxes in excess of the $250.00 minimum property tax threshold, and if you have not received Education Property Tax Assistance. The rebate application form is available at the Municipal Office and must be completed and returned to the Municipal office by November 15, 2017.
 
 
Seniors Property Tax Credit
 
Starting with the 2016 tax year, seniors will be able to claim the Rebate when they file for income taxes with the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA). Tax forms are made available by the CRA each year and will include a section with instructions for claiming the Rebate. Click HERE for additional information.
