Yard Waste Collection Begins Monday, May 4
Yard waste collection begins the first Monday in May.
Homes on the east side of Main Street will be the first to receive collection on May 4, followed by homes on the west side of Main on May 11. Collection in your zone will occur every second week and will continue through to October 31st.
For a smooth collection day, have yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. Be sure to keep yard waste separate from your regular garbage and recycling. This helps reduce landfill use, as collected yard waste is turned into compost.
Accepted containers include brown paper bags, cardboard boxes, or reusable containers without lids so contents are clearly visible. Paper bags and cardboard boxes will be collected and composted, while reusable containers will be emptied and left behind. Please note that the RM and its contractor, Emterra, are not responsible for damage to reusable bins.
Yard waste placed in plastic bags or non-compliant containers, such as regular garbage or recycling carts, will not be collected.
Branches can be placed alongside yard waste if they are tied with biodegradable string or twine and meet the following requirements: under 22 kg (50 lbs), less than one metre (39 inches) in length, and no more than 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter.
